Boulevard Park Concert

How wonderful it felt to enjoy a concert at Boulevard Park on an absolutely perfect summer evening with Bellingham Bay and the setting sun as the backdrop. And that is exactly what Sally and I did this evening! We parked near Fairhaven, walked along Taylor Dock to Boulevard Park and joined the crowd. The Geoffrey Castle Band, with Lennox Holness on bass, Mark Cardenas on keys, Paul Huppner on drums and special guest Adrian Xavier kicked off the first of this season's Boulevard Park Evening Concert Series. Billed as a "jaw-dropping rock violinist," the grass was transformed into a dance floor as hundreds danced to tonight's great tunes.
The lawn was filled with people of all ages - on the grass, on blankets, on chairs, on their bikes, walking by, with their friends and families, with their pets - everyone enjoying the outdoor music. Boats were anchored in the bay just off the coast of the park, their boaters enjoying the concert as they sat upon their decks.
There was even ice cream!
Four additional concerts are scheduled at Boulevard Park this summer as follows:

June 28 - Marion Weston Band - West coast county rockin' blues

July 12 - Maya Soleil - Afro-world fusion

July 16 - Incendio - Latin guitar world fusion

August 9 - Sister Monk - Rock, funk, dance

The Boulevard Park Summer Concert Series is sponsored by the Bellingham Parks and Recreation. Free to the public, the concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m.

After the concert before walking back along Taylor Dock, Sally and I stopped at the Woods Coffee shop for coffee and a little dessert. Picking up an extra cookie as we left, it felt good knowing we were heading off on our next adventure - a little favor for a friend. I hope you enjoyed the cookie, Steve!
