Thursday Evening Picnics in the Park

It is always fun to join friends for a picnic in the park! Like lots of other folks, we braved the cloudy skies to eat our picnic dinners to the classic country tunes of Matt Audette and the Circle of Friends during the first concert of the season at Elizabeth Park in Bellingham's historic Eldridge neighborhood.
There was the usual dancing on the grass.
The Thai House and Mallards Ice Cream had concession booths set up in the park for those who did not bring their own picnics, or wanted some of that delicious, hand churned ice cream while they enjoyed the concert.Having admired the beauty of Elizabeth Park since I was just a young girl, I am still impressed with all those mature trees, its charming gazebo and well-groomed lawns; and, of course, my favorite fountain in all of Bellingham.Fred treated himself to a chocolate ice cream cone from Mallards. Very briefly during tonight's concert, we were misted with sprinkles. We simply pulled out our umbrellas, and the show went on!

A pretty ballerina danced on the grass.

Just the cutest little girl!

I can't believe that none of us noticed this NO PARKING sign as I parked my car when we arrived. We had gotten there early, and plenty of parking spots were available up and down that street. We could have parked almost anywhere. Luckily, I did not get a parking ticket - or even worse, my car towed away!

Perhaps had Kriss been able to be there with us tonight, she could have helped me notice that NO PARKING sign - before, rather than after the concert. We missed you, Kriss and hope that you and Jesse can join us next Thursday!
